CAR MULTIMEDIA

A late-night DIY rave hosted by WAGON R, a DJ collective comprising b.256_, iddo_na and haotomaruyama. The venue sits deep in the mountains of Saitama; the location is undisclosed. Doors open at 23:00 and the night runs through until morning. Multimedia means handling text, audio, still images and other media — long treated as separate entities — simultaneously, as a single system. Only when the backgrounds, cultures and genres of everyone gathered there intersect does "CAR MULTIMEDIA" come into being. The event name evokes the car navigation systems and car stereos of the early 2000s, while the crew's name conjures the custom car culture of the Heisei era — their aesthetic bleeding through in the naming itself. New-generation trance, hardcore, Y2K cyber. A single night attempting both an escape from existing society and the construction of a multimedia all their own.
